During his visit to Ethiopia on 9 Febraury 2016, the former State Secretary at the Norwegian Justice Ministry, Joran Kallemyr, said that Norway recognizes the fact that Ethiopia is a country with economic and political stability.
However, Aftenposten, the most widely read newspaper in Norway writes, ” Kallemyr is lying, and so does the Ethiopian government. There is no political stability in Ethiopia, but crisis. Since the beginning of November, there have been huge demonstrations, and government forces have responded by shooting directly into the demonstrators and many arrests have been made.
On February 22 Human Rights Watch reported that there have been daily killings (estimated total of 200) in the Oromo region of Ethiopia in recent months. The Norwegian government is not concerned about the killings of students, but concerned with only one thing, that is, forcibly sending Ethiopians in Norway (those without residence permit) to Ethiopia at any cost.”
